Rome is as famous for its shops as it is its monuments. Most visitors find themselves torn between sightseeing or window shopping. With so much to see and do it’s important that you organize your time well and manage your funds before hunting out that prize present or eye catching hand bag!

The main shopping districts in Rome are Piazza di Spagna which is renowned for its designer boutiques offering leather good, suits and shoes. Via Nazionale offers a nice mix of affordable casual clothing and street wear. On the doorstep of the Vacanze a Roma Bed and Breakfast is the popular Viale Marconi which has a wide selection of bargain shopping outlets to choose from.

Porta Portese is Rome’s biggest outdoor market held every Sunday morning until about 1pm. This interesting market, again, isn’t far from the Bed and Breakfast Vacanze a Roma. Situated on the left bank of the Tiber between Porta Portese and Stazione Trastevere, the market is a short stroll away from our cheap Testaccio guest house.

Campo de’ Fiori is Rome’s oldest market and is a bright and colourful piazza every morning Monday until Saturday. There is an excellent market near Porta San Giovanni selling new and second-hand clothes. It is open to around 1pm Monday to Sunday.
